How Suspension Rules Work
Yellow Card Accumulation
Two yellow cards in a match or across matches result in one match suspension. Yellow cards reset to zero after serving a suspension.
Red Card Suspension
One red card equals one match suspension. Accumulated yellow cards before the red card do not extend the ban.
Tournament Phases
In knockout stages, suspensions carry forward. In group stages, only current match cards count toward immediate availability.
Fantasy Application
Players with 2+ yellows or any reds are high-risk for the next match. Consider backup options when projecting lineups.
Common Scenarios
Defender with 2 Yellows
A defender who collected two yellow cards in previous matches will miss the next fixture. This affects backline rotation options.
Key Attacker with Red Card
A striker sent off will miss one match. Their absence reduces goal threat for the suspended game and potentially the next.
Midfielder Dual Threat
A midfielder with yellow card accumulation and a red card history requires careful rotation. Monitor card counts weekly.
